Bredesen Request Granted for Federal Farm AssistanceFour Middle Tennessee Counties Approved NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen today announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved his request for federal farm assistance for four Middle Tennessee counties due to heavy rains and extensive flooding that occurred in May. Big year for Belmont began in March

Belmont University is getting some national recognition in advance of Tuesday’s presidential debate. The AP released a story about BU, which weirdly focuses on the school’s alcohol policy more than its academics.
As someone who covered Belmont’s basketball program for four seasons, I wanted to tip my hat to the school. First the Bruins come within one excruciating point of beating Duke in the NCAA tournament, which I know has been a boost to the university and the basketball program. Now BU gets to host the debate in the house that Rick Byrd (and the Curb family) built.
I already saw today CNN has a reporter doing broadcasts from inside the Curb Event Center. It will be interesting to see how Belmont handles the celebrity.
